  • The basic rules for good communication.

 

Communicate effectively:

  • Adopt a positive, constructive attitude.
  • Base what you say on observations and facts.
  • Use “I”.
  • Use open questions.
  • Rephrase.

 

Make collaboration easier:

  • Make sure other people understand you, get your messages across.
  • Make sure the people you deal with can understand you.
  • Overcome misunderstandings.
  • Improve the communication process to facilitate comprehension.

 

Develop harmonious relationships:

  • Be receptive and open to others.
  • Have the right amount of empathy.
  • Favour an equal relationship.
  • Develop a proactive approach to listening - based on observation.
  • Think about non-verbal communication (your own and that of the person you are talking to).
